At the moment a little time out to work on some Christmas cards is heaven. I love the layered over the top look of cards you only really get from hand made cards unless you spend a lot of money from a card shop!. I have to admit I am still new to card making who would have dreamed that simply making a card could be so complicated?, from die cutting, to stamping, embossing, letter pressing, decoupage and so much more. I am yet to decided exactly what my style of card is. I do secretly like the simple modern style cards yet fail when I try to recreate that style. These forever friends cards are mostly part of matching ranges, but even when you have a mass of lovely products in front of you, putting them together to achieve a good result isn't always as easy as you would think. I struggle a little with peel offs. A more traditional style. A traditionalist at heart I had to do a few classic typical cards. Although I am starting to think that generally the bigger the card the better it looks. Small cards just don't seam so appealing. The plan being that everyone will be getting a handmade Christmas card this year so I can get some practice in. Some I like, some I don't, some took an hour some just 20 minutes. These are mostly from Kanban a card company that has lots of lovely card making goodies. Luckily I have lots of supplies to use so I think my cards maybe about to get a little bit bigger. I haven't even touched my Christmas stamp collection yet! (mostly freebies from magazines). Never to young to start My 5 year old who will sit and glue, stick, and paint for hours asked to make a card. Her sticky little fingers picked out what she wanted to use and showing her a few techniques!, ( yes I know that sounds odd, but she can now using mummy's sticky tape make things stick up from the card) she produced this card, I just helped with the cutting. But she would have been just as happy to stick all of my peel offs on a plain white card. This one is reserved for her teacher she tells me, but I have a feeling she will be making more. So perhaps we shouldn't underestimate our little ones. Perhaps you to are making your own Christmas cards, I do hope so. I will leave you with a few more of my cards made so far. Happy Crafting xxxx

I know, I know its only September and I am sorry I know some of you don't want to think about Christmas for a good few months but I plan to make as many of my Christmas presents this year and the reality of this means I need to start now. For those of you that just don't want to see it yet I have kept it on a separate page just ignore if you wish and stick to my usual blog. Thank you. My list (I cant say who they are for but I will try to share how they are made and materials used). Hampers to include handmade blackberry Jam and mince meat. 3 Crochet Blankets 1 Crochet Scarf A box of 12 Birthday Cards Gift Cards 2 Charm Bracelets 6 Pack of Crackers 2 boxes of 12 Gift boxes 2 Scrap book kits more to follow. So this is my list so far I am sure it will grow! A Simple Crochet Blanket. I struggle with patterns. I can read them but I find I just want to go my own way. Both my girls have asked for handmade blankets. For me a simple single crochet blanket is the easiest and made in a chunky wool means it will work up quickly. I am planning a month with an hour most evenings should be enough I hope!. The best thing about blankets is you can make them as big as you need. I have already started Elle-may's she wants pinks and purples. I will try to film me making the second one so if you haven't tried crochet yet then I really hope this will help. If you are a complete newbie fear not! check out Woolywonderscrochet on you tube her videos are fantastic. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyToSTyaK64TeKwkST6a7AQ/videos So this is the blanket so far look out for the pattern coming soon. So that's the start of my Christmas homemade. Keep checking back for more updates.
