HelIo I did promise you I would bring you a how to for my exploding box so this is it I hope you like it.
I love making cards and I'm keen to take my card making skills up a notch!. Funny thing is usually it's not that tricky so just be brave a give it a go. Pop over to you tube and you will find loads of exploding cards to make but all using 12by 12 papers. Now that's great you get a good sized box. But we don't always have 12 by 12 card and you need something with a bit of strength to make this it is a box after all. So a little bit of trial and error and I have done it. Yep I've made one out of standard a4. So to need 3 pieces of a4 card for this. They don't have to be the same colours but you will see them ideally pick your patterned paper and then pick your card. So forgive me for my long video So using some a A4 card you need to cut it to 9cm by 27.5. You need 4 pieces this size. Then score each piece at 9.1cm and 18.1 cm and fold. Then cut 4 pieces of card 27cm by 8cm and score at 9.1 cm and 18.1cm and fold. For the lid you need a piece of card 20.5cm by 20.5cm and score on each side at 5.5cm. I really hope you can follow these instructions do watch the video to help you but be warned these are very addictive. I will film a video of me decorating one soon. Take care xxxx Welcome back. Firstly leg me apologies and say that I am bringing Christmas Papercraft to this area of my blog but I'll be covering other paper craft items as well. It's nearly October and I wasn't really intending on buying another craft magazine as honestly I can't wait to get my hands on some of the big named Christmas magazine such as women and home, good housekeeping you know those thick glossy magazines half filled with advertising but I like to see what the big stores are offering us this year. So what happened? Well I saw the sentiment die and decided to go for it. So what you really want to know is are the dies any good? All of the dies are very intricate so they need good card stock and time to punch the pieces out. The tree was the hardest but the snow flakes lovely and I really don't think you can have enough snowflakes. On the above card the pink card is actually glitter card from create and craft. Keep a look out as sometimes it's half price. I made a simple topper with a doilie and a gold die cut shape. I think it's good to have a few toppers ready this time of year. The magazine Actually it's really good. Full of Christmas ideas and lots of cards that can be easily adapted to fit the supplies you already have. I particularly like a section of scandi Christmas cards. What I liked was the use of scandi papers and dies that actually aren't Christmasy just using a Christmas sentiment. I had to try this but I didn't really have any scandi papers!, anyway this my attempt. I know what your thinking the sentiment die is lost with the busy pattern!. Opps lesson learned. But on this card I used a tiny heart which came from a sizzix set. This got me thinking about using this die for a Christmas card. What do you think? I'm not sure, but I cut a few extra out of Christmas paper. I think the prints are a little busy. I'm going to store these for now.
But I guess my point is what dies do you have already and could they be used for Christmas?. Lots to think about. Thanks for reading enjoy your monday xxxx Well hello how are you? Well I've not been 100% this week and I posted the above picture on a Facebook forum and then had a bit of interest in this. So on request i have filmed a very basic video and bellow are the written instructions. 0Starting with a piece of 30 by 19cm card stock score at 14cm and 16cm.
Then fold your score lines. Now you need to cut your pages. These measure 25 by 12.5 Now score at 12.5 and fold. You need four of these pieces. Then cut a piece of card at 13 by 5.5 and score at 1.5cm and then rotate and score at 1.5 cm. Do the same score lines again on piece of card that measures 13 by 4.5 I really hope this helps you to make sense of the video. Remember to use acid free papers so they don't ruin any pictures you using. Join me soon and I'll show you some of the decorations I will be making to go with this. Hello welcome back I'm sorry I didn't get round to reviewing this magazine. The funny thing is I actually purchased this because i wanted a tree embossing folder and the stamps are so cute. But within opening the first few pages I saw some cards that had been made from the previous issue. Damn I thought to myself what a lovely free gift. Then I read the words to order back issues. Yes thats right you can order back issue's So I did. So let me tell you both issues are great. Both full of new product, machines and yes you can tell Christmas is on its way. In my back order copy issue 135 comes with a fab free gift. A tropical set with dies and stamps. You actually get a lot of stamps and they co-ordinate really well together. I have made two cards with the dies I think you will agree they are completely different. I really can make a whole lot of cards from this set and it's great to have a tropical set as I don't have anything like it.
I think that's the key with these magazines. The contents are good you can gets some great ideas and it's always nice to see new ranges but really the free dies need to be worth the price tag!. I hope this has been a useful blog post today. Happy crafting xxxx Welcome back. I've so much to share with you, so much I have forgotten to show you. Let's start with Autumn and for someone who likes making cards this is the best time of year because lots of new products are being released. Now I'm going to try to steer clear of CHRISTMAS just yet but do check out my Christmas section above if your ready to start. So apart from the usual Birthday cards you will start to see Autumn themed products as well as Halloween craft supplies. Take a look around any of the big craft web sites and you will see some wondeful new products. Now I'm going to resist buying any of these goodies as I'd like to let my silhouette do some of the work for me. A new blade and I'm off to work. This journalling card is from the silhouette store. I also made this fall sign. I am so pleased with how it cut. I've been busy making more cards but I always forget to share them. For both these cards I used a retired stampin up die and docrafts country life range. What's next?
I still have a few birthday cards to make before this year ends. I'd also like to try and make a paper box frame so more to come on that soon. So this is a sweet and simple blog really as I have so much going on at the moment. Take some time and explore the new ranges. If I do give in and buy anything you will be the first to know. Xxxxd Hello welcome back. I wonder how many of you are starting to get your craft supplies up together for the big C word? I have been taking advantage of some great bargain offers and restocking my supplies of glue and card packs. In fact I can actually say I'm tired of spending money on supplies I actually just want to get making. But a word of warning! Buy something that goes with what you already have. So buy washi tape that is the same colour as your paper packs or embellishments that match your dies. I saw this stamp set for just £1 including delivery on eBay and I knew it was perfect as it will go well with an embossing folder I had from Stampin up. I'm not highlighting the stamp set I don't actually know who made it and I suspect it may have been a free gift with a magazine it doesn't matter but it means I can now use the embossing folder that I think I paid about £7 for. Something I don't think I would do again but never mind. The card bellow is made with both the stamp set and the embossing folder. I did use the plane from an old Stampin up stamp set as well. My point is if you can really see how a product is going to be used with the items you already have then you are much more likely to use it again and again.
Happy shopping crafters. I will leave you with another card I made with the same stamp set, don't you just love black and white. Xxxx Hello welcome back I do hope you are well. Today I have a little review for you and to be honest this is the first time I have used any Hunkydory products. Now if you are a create and craft member you can get this set as a members gift for just the price of postage. It's actually incredibly thick card, lovely matching colours and has this lovely gold foil. I would say this is a very small set and has a summertime theme. This was so easy to put together some very easy cards. I made these up very quickly this is fabulous for a beginner. I will admit after using this I'd definitely try another set if the theme was right.
I hope you enjoyed this little blog check back soon as I will be trying out some more brands soon. Hello welcome back. If you have been following me on Instagram you will know I've been really busy card making and absolutely loving it. But consequently my supplies have been getting low plus my create and craft subscription had run out. Now create and craft is a craft shopping channel. They show you how to use products that they sale. If you join the club it costs £20 and you get £10 to spend plus free gifts and 10% off everything and sometimes they give you more off. They also offer flexi pay so you can spread the cost of larger priced items. Anyway I rejoined and ordered some items that are half priced. I ordered todo basic square and rectangle dies. These are great and they fit in my big shot. This month's free gift is pictured in the middle. It's 2 banner dies and two Christmas stamps. You have to pay £2.99 postage but I love this set and it's by tonic. This is the first time I've used anything buy tonic and I'm very impressed with the quality of the stamps and dies. bellow is a simple card I made using my new dies. This card I used folk floral range and a Stampin up sentiment that I managed to fit in the banner. So let's talk basics i do love the pound the shop even though I worry how it's products are made and the ethics behind it. But they often stock branded products. Bankrupted stock?, End of line products? Who knows but these are some of the goodies I picked up. Blank card packs sorry not in the photo but they do have blank card bases and envelopes which aren't to bad. They won't hold a heavy embellished card but they are use able. I did try the glue dots and they have a lot of dove craft products. I tried the glue which is ok. Not a very big tub, I'd pick Anita's tacky glue over it. The washi tape is brilliant as the pearl drops. They did have small paper packs and resin flowers I just didn't need any but it's certainly worth a look. From September I really will pushing ahead with my Christmas cards so getting some supplies ready is important. I do love the works as they stock so many named products. I opted for some 12 by 12 papers, doilies, card blanks, bows and bells. I had to have a little play. Don't worry I will be bringing you more on these products soon. Finally I have to talk about this month's docrafts creativity Magazine I've had a supper quick peek inside, it's not really Christmasy yet but the free gifts are great. The stamps are lovely and thick and the papers are lovely.
So I'll leave you with my makes using the freebies. Thanks for reading xxx |
