![]() Welcome back. For a little while now I have been wanting an Alphabet Die. The trouble being they are very expensive and usually you have to buy a lower case set and an upper case set!. How ever I found this set from XCUT which features both!, Recommended price for this is £19 but I found one for just £12 on ebay. This is classed as a large die its not A4 but you might need adapter plates depending on which machine you have. I used mine on my grand Calibur and it cut lovely. I light tap on the die and I used my nail to just knock anything out that was stuck.
I love this die, the letters are a nice size for cards not to big!. The negative with this is you get all the letter when you might only want one. All you need to do is lay a small amount of card under the letters you need so its not really a bad thing!. Why spend so much on this die? Well now I can personalize my cards, I can make mothers day cards, fathers day, get well, any thing I need a sentiment I can make now. I would really recommend this die.

Hello and welcome back. Still sticking with our basics and its always good to revisit basics. Today we are looking at Decoupage. Now I will be truthful with you, it really isn't something I enjoy, I do think its a little old fashioned and can be a little fussy for my taste, however it has its place in card making and many people love it. What I will say for it is you can get so many different sheets. Great if you want to make a car card or an animal. So lets look at what you can get. You have two options Pre cut or cut your own!. I would probably cry if I had to cut my own, cutting for me is a nightmare, yet I know some of you love to cut. You even find it therapeutic. Bellow is an example of a sheet you would have to cut, I was given this and I don't seam to be able to find a price for this. I have seen some in craft shops This one is from a company called FGS Designs if that is any help. Next to it you will see a forever friends pre cut set with sentiments as well. Do Crafts have a massive selection starting from a £1, you can usually get at least two cards from a sheet. I am using up a papermania floral sheet. Start by poping all the images out, take a note that they are numbered to help you to layer them up. Then add your foam pads and layer up. Hopefully the pictures help you to see. Now you don't have to use all the pieces its up to you.
I added a papermania notelet, a thinking of you sentiment and then some tiny little pearls. Its a bit basic but my thoughts are as a sympathy card you don't want to much fuss, but it could easily be a get well soon card. I hope this has introduced you to decoupage or reminded you of its uses. Take care and check back soon. xxxx Hello welcome back. I felt I had to include kits in the basics. The craft market is full of companies all with their own ranges and styles. Today I want to go through some of the types of kits available to you. The great thing about kits is the colour co-ordination is done for you. Trust me this can be tricky. Now a kit could provide any number of things, from card blanks, stamps, papers toppers and decoupage. Take a little time to look around at what's available and go for something you really like and has real use as it may last you a long time!. I would suggest starting with a birthday type kit or even Christmas. Lets look at Kanban Crafts Over Christmas I was lucky enough to be given a Christmas Kanban set. I have seen them on shopping channels so I was super excited. Depending on what kit you get you generally get very good quality thick card which can be foiled as well as patterned, plus stripes of Sentiments and lots of toppers as well as some printed ideas. The pictures bellow are just a small example of what I had on mine. The great thing about these kits is you can simply pop the toppers out and stick them onto the card with a sentiment. Or take it up a notch by using some embellishment's, perhaps a ready made bow or a little button. Bellow are some of the examples of cards I have made with this kit. Now these are great and if you want to produce mass cards to resale then these kits are perfect. (Be sure to check their Angel Policy which you should be able to find on the wrapper when you buy your kit)They also do good mens kits and animal ones to.
However its not my favourate way of making a card. But each to their own. A little over your budget or simply not wanting to spend so much? Let me recommend do Crafts. I will add a link shortly for you but do Crafts make matching sets. So you can buy cards, patterened paper toppers embellishment's, ribbon, buttons all colour or themed to help you. You may need to use a little more imagination but they have a good web site with links to allow you to search for cards made using the products. The picture bellow are from the blog post I did about the do crafts kit, it came with matching French Lavender items and a card I made using these products. Its more budget friendly in that you could simply buy a topper sheet for about a £1 and you may get two cards out of it. Or add in some notelets in a co-ordinating colour. Next week we will be looking at Decoupage and I will be doing a step by step guide for you. Don't forget to click on the link bellow to take a look around the Do crafts web site. Thanks for reading.xxxx |
