Well you know me I can't resist a wreath, gutted as this ones not for me!. I knew the colours I wanted were so important and this is to grace a little baby girls room it had to be pretty. Now in my family we like biscuits, as far as I know it's something from my Dads side of the family. When I was little we would visit my Nan and Grandad. Sadly both are no longer with us. Something that was clear in my mind from our visits as well as other memories was the biscuit tin. No not the actual tin but more importantly the contents. Now my Nan and Grandad had the best taste in biscuits. I actually think it was my Grandad who loved the biscuits the most, as after losing my Nan he still had the biscuits when we would visit. These biscuits would be strawberry's creams, orange creams and biscuits with marshmallow and coconut. As this wreath is going to my niece Chloe it is all important that she learns about the important things in life. Anyway back to the wreath. I wanted to include biscuits in this wreath but I have this fear of Crochet that needs stuffing. I am sure if I really wanted to make the biscuits I could but I would have had to purchased all the different colour wool and the patterns, it would have cost as much as these did to buy these ones. I got these from eBay. Never be afraid of buying something made by someone else to use on a project. After all I am appreciating someone else's love of Crochet, skill and helping them no doubtly to buy more wool. As you can see I simply added a safety pin as what makes this wreath special is that this wreath can be changed. Chloe will be able to play with these when she is older as they are removable. So when she is playing with them what happens to the wreath?. Well it had to be flowers. I made a mix of standard Roses again with pins in so they can be added. The base. A polystyrene wreath is what you want. I made a chain of 40 then single chained into each chain changing colours randomly. Opps I'm not sure how many chains I did but you need enough to wrap around the base. I just kept trying until it fit. I always leave a small amount of wool from each colour I add so I can stitch it together at the back. So I hit that point in the project when I knew I was running out of steam. I just couldn't face making more Roses so I altered the pattern playing around until I had made this spikey flower. You will need a 4mm hook. Start by chaining 42 now TR in the second chain from the hook. TR in each stitch unil you get to the end. Next single chain two and single chain into the 1st stitch the. DC in the next stich htr into to the same stitch and then DC in the same stich. Then single chain into the next stitch. Then repeat the pattern. 1dc 1htr 1dc into the same stitch then single chain into the next stich until you get the end. Slip stitch to finish the flower leaving a long end t allow you to roll up your flower. I used a needle to take the wool through the flower so it didn't unravel. This is my first pattern I have written. Forgive me if you find it hard to follow or the pattern already exists. Now just like the biscuits I used a safety pin to attach the flowers. I just added a Crochet bow. So I definitely need a break from Crochet now but I am pleased with results.
