Hello how are you? Looking forward to the long weekend? Me too. Well in case you want a magazine to keep you busy this weekend let me introduce you to Prima Makes. So after finding the cash machine wasn't working I popped into my local newsagents. Not wanting to buy chocolate to get cash back I decided on a magazine. My first look was at some of the magazines with free dies but to be honest the dies really didn't appeal so when I spotted the lovely front cover on Prima Makes issue 11 I couldn't resist. No not the free gift that didn't make me part with £4.99 I don't really enjoy sewing even though it's a doughnut and my youngest was extremely interested in me making it! ( we will see perhaps I might tackle it!). Because I have purchased these in the past I was encouraged to buy this issue. Now this magazine features sewing projects, knitting and crochet projects, paper craft, baking as well as other crafts. These projects are usually not to taxing. As well as a free gift usually always at the back you find free papers. The papers are always lovely but they are papers so use is limmited. What I really like about these magazines is they do follow the seasons. This issue honisty I was a little disappointed. I like the shopping pages which give a good mix of Craft type supplies such as Stickers, fabric etc just really drawing your attention to new ranges. Also trendy beautifully packaged beauty products as well as items for kids and stationary. As well they have 4 Crochet projects I would actually like to do! So that's a real bonus. The sewing projects don't interest me that's just personal. The problem I have with the this issue is again it features painted jars, Homemade envelopes and bag projects all of which we have seen before. Simply changing a colour isn't that interesting. Whilst I'm not going to share their magazines images with you I can safely say it's very pretty and more like a book than a magazine in some ways. To make sure I get my money's worth I am going to do some of its projects but let's just say I'm not going to rush out to buy the next edition. You get a page in the book to right notes so I am doing so. my first project is going to be a tea cosy!. I'll let you know how I get on. It's been a busy week! I have had a few projects I can't share with you yet but this little bootie is my 1st attempt. We have a new baby in the family so I guess it makes sense to try a few baby items. If you see my posts on Facebook you will know I have been making a Crochet wreath. I need to get a few more supplies before I can finish it but this is it so far. I used 3 colours from Robin Bonny Babe soft blend which is a very affordable at £1.39 a ball. I have loads left so these will be great colours for me to work with, perfect for a baby girl.
I will let you know what I make soon. So that's my weekends craft sorted out. I hope you have something lovely planned. Perhaps it's the perfect time to start a new project or hobby?. Take care xxxx

Hello again I do hope your well. I have been doing a little spring cleaning. I will be sharing some of my storage ideas with you shortly but today's blog comes to you as I am tidying up our book case. I have a small wicker basket the hair brush is supposed to live in!. I thought I'd share with you some of the treats I found in the basket. I know some of you will be rolling your eyes at the sight of all these goodies that our children are happy to spend their pocket money on . Most of these are magazine freebies. Is it any wonder when I love magazines that my children naturally follow my love. For my girls it's a once a month treat. The youngest at 6 years old usually picks a magazine based on the free gift!. Usually a popular TV show magazine. Whilst my 11 year old will nearly always pick Girl talk! She has learned the importance of continuity and knows what she likes in a magazine. It's typical of that early innocent teen magazine!. Pop stars like Taylor Swift and little mix as well as introducing them to the world of shopping!. It's fashion and gift page mixes next, smiggle's new look and primark feature clothes jewellery and stationary in a child/ teen way. IT HAS CRAFT PROJECTS tooooo! (Sadly lost on my 11year old) but also talks about friend ships, kindness it's very gentle perfect for this age and comes with most fab free gifts. Yep the lipsticks a rubber! Now my six year olds free gifts are usually a bit hit and miss!. Often plastic phones that soon fall apart but she does everything she can in her magazine's. Every scrap of colouring is done, puzzles, spot the difference and sticker pages so she really gets her money's worth and wow do they charge for them. Usually priced between £3-£5. So for a moment when I too roll my eyes at more plastic, crazy stationary and large magazine bills! I am still utterly greatful for the little treats in this basket because I know how quickly they grow and these things disappear and evolve as my children will do to, needing me less and little bits of plastic less as well.
Happy Tuesday Enjoy the little things. xxxxx Oh what an odd week one in which I nearly announced I was taking a break. In all honisty I've been feeling very tired and very uninspired. I think the stress of the dog being so unwell ( we still don't know what's wrong with her steroids are looking to be her last hope) lack of sleep plus a few health issues have really knocked me back. I have even had a few days when I haven't crafted at all😞. I have so many unfinished blogs I've yet to complete and so many projects the same way. Last week I did something I hadn't done in a long time some yoga. Wow I had forgotten how good it is to give yourself a moment to breath and stretch. So although I've not been very crafty I have been adding some creativity in a different way. The sun came out and me and my youngest took to the garden and planted some flowers. Blue pots with blue and cream flowers. Now Elle-may loves to be outside and when the warmth is on my face I really enjoy the fresh air. She was a star and insisted on getting rather muddy as she filled the pots with little flowers. A little weeding and the garden is looking much better. Home made bird feederI do like to see the birds and my neighbours do an amazing job of feeding them, but they simply use our garden to fly across from one house to the other so I felt it was time to encourage them in. Oddly both supermarkets i visited only had seeds not a feeder so I took to Pinterest to find a home made option. I am sorry the picture is not the best but basically it's a jam jar with an old wooden spoon tied on with some garden wire then hung and filled with seeds. I was unsure if the birds would use it but less than an hour later a little robin landed on top of the jar and leaned in very quickly and flew away just as quick. Let's hope it works but it didn't cost anything so it was worth a try. Something else I haven't done in a long time is read a book, no not a Kindle down load a real book!,so after a little look around eBay I found this little gem by Jenny Colgan called welcome to Rosie Hopkins Sweet Shop of Dreams. Yes if you know me I do have a sweet tooth so the title attracted me as much as the little snippets of information on sweets and recipes you find as you travel through this book but I have read a few of the author's books. Now this is a charming book of hope and kindness and a dreamy country setting. But what I love is how this book tells two story's. One of modern day and one set during the war. I adore 40's clothing and furniture in fact most things about the 40s interest me. ( yes I like history always have). So this book although not finished yet has been a real treat for me. A moment of dreaminess. If you haven't felt the soft page of a good book in a long time urge you to pick one up and treat yourself to a moment. I will say I am feeling a lot brighter now thankfully, and a delivery of card arrived today, card which I might add cuts on my silhouette machine and thanks to a voucher and free postage i paid just £4 for 100 sheets of card half of which is glitter. This had cheered me up no end and after two failed attempts at making my nephew's card I managed with realitive ease to produce this card. The back ground is glitter which is hard to see.Let's hope he likes it. Enjoy your weekend and thank you for checking back xxxx
I love this range so much and I knew it would be perfect for snazzing up these IKEA draws. I started by removing each draw and measuring them. Then I cut the papers to fit and using some Anita's tacky glue I carefully applied small blobs around the back of the paper and pressed them over the draw fronts. I used a craft knife to make the gaps on the draws. I used a mixture of buttons as well as the die cuts that came with the set. The papermania bare essentials items to really well with this range. I used a rather large jute bow to the draw as well as some wooden buttons. This was a perfect time to use your supplies. I added resin flowers as well as twine tied to buttons. I also used the bee and kettle charms to add some interest. As I am keeping it in a cupboard I didn't need to decorate the sides but you could easily.
This took less than two hours and I am thrilled with the results. Thank you for reading hope it's inspired you. Xxxx Hello how have you been? It's been a lovely break so far with a mix of ups and downs. The downs being that my big hairy dog has been unwell.Lots of tests and money later we still aren't sure exactly what is wrong with her but more tests this week should reveal the problem and what treatment is needed. If you have a loved pet you will understand the stress caused by an unwell undiagnosed pet can bring. Don't worry the radiator doesn't work!. But the highs have been spending family time together. We haven't ventured too far but did including a trip to the cinema and a trip out to town with the kids favourite MC Donald's visit. Which is something we haven't done for a long time and won't be doing for a long time again but they were pushed by the free toy!. Talking of which too many takeaways and eating out let's not mention the chocolate has meant things are a little tighter than I would like (clothing wise!). Anyway with hubby back to work its just me and the kids, a mass of presents to make and cards it looks to be a busy week. So anyway one of my latest makes. I do try to stay away from jewellery making as pliers don't agree with my hands anymore sadly but even I ignore my own wisdom and when it comes to a bargain. Browsing in my local craft shop ( I actually went in to get some more ribbon for some wedding items I'm making) I came across a reduced box of goodies and for £1 I picked up these jump rings. I knew exactly what I'd be doing with them and just as I got to the last jump ring I lost control sending everything flying!. Still I pushed on and this is what I made. Or is it? I am now on the look out for something funky to go on the bottom. I will let you know what I find. Well thank you for checking back if your on holiday then enjoy what's left if your not on the bright side the temperature is warming and the sun is trying to brighten everything. Take care and check back soon. Xxxxx
