Lovely lavender. Well hello how are you?, I haven't been as active on my blog as I had planned to be just recently. So a little off plan I decided as I was collecting some lavender this morning to get back into my blog starting with lavender. I have 7 lavender in my little garden and one by the front door. "Always plant lavender by the front door for good luck". So yes I also have one small plant outside my front door. This one I am leaving to help mask the smell of my bins and for the bees. In the garden I think I have 3 different types of Lavander, butterfly being my favourite. Now with out being an expert, well actually I know very little about plants or gardening. So with the blessing of the internet I researched how to harvest lavender and how to look after it. Let's cut to the best bit. You have to get to the Lavander before it flowers! And dont pick it when it's wet!. The aim is to dry it out if it goes mouldy it smells terrible!. Hopefully you can see two varieties on this newspaper. I love the brighter vivid one most that's what I'm hanging upside down in a warm environment to dry out. Roughly two weeks later the Lavander should fall apart allowing you to then collect and store the Lavander dried and ready. The downer being that you don't get a lot! and it's cheap to buy but I'm leaving plenty for the bees which is crucial in supporting our bees. So what to do with them? Well you guessed it I have a whole range of projects planned from bath salts, bath bombs and Lavander bags are just a few!. But I need a lot more before I can start!. Thanks for reading, I am hoping to finish my Crochet wreath today so keep a look out for that. Xxx

Sometimes I make something that just isn't what I wanted it to be and it's bugging me!. I will try a felt wreath again one day but for now I can't wait to remove this one!. It didn't take long did it for me to want to get started on my Crochet summer wreath. But this time it needs to be much quicker!. I don't think I have the energy to start a large wreath like my spring wreath pictured bellow. I need to make one that's a little smaller. Thankfully I tend to keep a lot of my magazines and this old Simply Crochet magazine has a section on weddings and it actually features a wedding bouquet made from Crochet flowers. This actually features over 8 different flowers to try. It's issue 32 check online I'm sure you can order back copy's. Failing that any flowers would be great. The hardest thing will be choosing the colours!. I was so puzzled when it came to the colours to use in this wreath then it hit me. Once it's warmer and we no longer need a fire we use my nanny buttons fire screen. If you didn't know Nanny Buttons is my Grandad's mum. Both are sadly no longer with us.
I have some lovely memories of Nanny buttons but I have to say I don't remember this fire screen. This was made by Nanny buttons and the frame made by my Dad so it's extra special and one of my most favourite things. It seams obvious now that my wreath should be the same colours. I might even try some button flowers to match. l will this post this now and I'll let you know once I match the colours. Very exciting I can't wait to get started on this. Have a lovely week xxxx Hello welcome back what a hot week we have been having in Somerset. I hope your weather has been as lovely as ours. I am just taking this moment to do a little update. My weeks been focused on the garden, I wish I could say I am good at gardening but I am not however I am trying. My little bit of garden has 5 roses and lots of lavender plus a few little trees. This year I hope to harvest my lavender so I can use it for some of my craft projects. A little shoppingSo I went craft shopping but look it's mainly just basics.
Blank cards, sticky foam dots, tape and a smaller Crochet hook. But more exciting is this months DoCrafts creativity magazine and it's fabulous that's all I am going to say about that at the moment. So tonight I have 3 cards to make which you will see once they have been given out. With my new hook I am ready to make a little pair of Crochet shoes (hopefully). So that's about it for now. I hope you have something creative planned for the rest of this week. Take care. Xxxxx Firstly thank you so much all of you who have been checking back I hope your well. I have been making some plans and I have some news coming soon but I can't share it just yet so just hang on and for now I'll just share this make with you instead. This blog post is actually something I made last year. Garden danglies. Do you ever take a look at jewellery in charity shops? Well last year I spotted a pink quartz necklace. It was huge I snapped it up quick for a couple of pounds and took it home to take apart. Using a memory wire bracelet and some thick pliers I loaded up the quartz. It's natural springiness and the weight of the beads pulls it down a treat. Leave a large end and twist the wire over to form a loop. Fear not if you only have silver thick wire it will do the same but you won't get the twist!. Now if your wire is thick you may need to add a final bead on the end go pull it down. I used an old jewellery piece to allow me to hang it. Perhaps an old keyring. Ideally as I often find myself not wanting to buy something I would much rather use something I already have. This works with normal beads to. Just be aware that these could be a potential fire hazard if you use clear beads so be careful on your choice of positioning. The last one is a rose quartz which I hang in the corner of my bedroom. It doesn't get the sun. Apparently rose quartz should be kept in a corner I forget the reason why perhaps someone can enlighten me?. I hope you like this make and give it a go!.
I've been mostly crocheting this week as I actually had cold feet so I found a quick guide to making slippers. Well two hours to be precise and I had made some Crochet slippers. They are a little big so I added some lace. Honistly if my crazy little puppy doesn't get them I am not sure how long they will last. Perhaps some chunky socks would be better. Well thanks for reading and I hope you find something crafty to do today xxxx Hello how are you?, I've just got back from a lovely holiday at the seaside so my blogs been neglected this week. Plus my month of no craft spending is over thank goodness!. Actually it wàs surprisingly easier than I had thought. Plus it made me tidy what I already had and use some of my supplies. But I'll be honest a few days of not crafting (I didn't even take any Crochet with me) I am itching to get back into it. Let's start with Junes edition of Card making & Papercraft. Now it's been ages since I've purchased this magazine as usually the dies don't interest me but this month's has an edge die and I have never used one before. I won't review this magazine as the next issue is due out on the 9th June ( the free gifts look fab). I will have a play next week and see what I can do with it. I have to bring your attention to the new Stampin up catalogue that has just come out, wow is it full of lovely items, infact I am a little over whelmed with it I don't really know what I want, I kinda want everything!. Find your nearest demonstrator and get a copy in your hands. Now despite a weeks worth of washing for a family of 5 and a birthday party I couldn't help start a new project. Yep I picked up 3 balls of wool in a pound shop for just £2!. These colours just jumped out at me. I didn't even have a plan for them. Now I'm not keen on granny squares, well I like them but I've had a few unravel on me so I'm always a little reluctant to use them but I found a pattern in an old Magazine for a tea cosy. Oddly I ended up jjust doing my own thing. RThis is basically 4 squares joined with a few lines on top.
Its basic but I figure with so much wool left it cost about a pound. It's a little wonky looking but part if the fun is just trying. Remember each project you learn new things, never be afraid to try. Thanks for reading. Enjoy your Sunday. Xxxx |
