Lovely lavender. Well hello how are you?, I haven't been as active on my blog as I had planned to be just recently. So a little off plan I decided as I was collecting some lavender this morning to get back into my blog starting with lavender. I have 7 lavender in my little garden and one by the front door. "Always plant lavender by the front door for good luck". So yes I also have one small plant outside my front door. This one I am leaving to help mask the smell of my bins and for the bees. In the garden I think I have 3 different types of Lavander, butterfly being my favourite. Now with out being an expert, well actually I know very little about plants or gardening. So with the blessing of the internet I researched how to harvest lavender and how to look after it. Let's cut to the best bit. You have to get to the Lavander before it flowers! And dont pick it when it's wet!. The aim is to dry it out if it goes mouldy it smells terrible!. Hopefully you can see two varieties on this newspaper. I love the brighter vivid one most that's what I'm hanging upside down in a warm environment to dry out. Roughly two weeks later the Lavander should fall apart allowing you to then collect and store the Lavander dried and ready. The downer being that you don't get a lot! and it's cheap to buy but I'm leaving plenty for the bees which is crucial in supporting our bees. So what to do with them? Well you guessed it I have a whole range of projects planned from bath salts, bath bombs and Lavander bags are just a few!. But I need a lot more before I can start!. Thanks for reading, I am hoping to finish my Crochet wreath today so keep a look out for that. Xxx
