Hello welcome back I hope you are well I have been trying to write my blogs for a while but weebly has been having trouble loading. Or it might just be my fault. But things just seam to get in the way and I have been so busy. Anyway this months wreath needed to be something easy to make and colourful. I just seam to love colour at the moment. A pom pom wreath So how do you make a pom pom wreath well you need a pom pom maker which is is actually easy to find from any good craft store or on ebay. How many pom poms do you need to make well that depends on the size of your wreath base. I used a 24 cm wreath base from hobby craft that cost about £3. Firstly I cut some strips of felt but ribbon would be just as good and I stuck that around the base to make sure the pom poms would stick to the base. I used a trusty glue gun and tied some purple ribbon so i would have something to hang it from when it was finished. I started to place the largest pom poms centrally around the wreath. Then you need to fill around being careful not to have two colours together unless that is what you want. The down side is this that this took about 5 hours to make with all the pom poms on it and it is massive. If you had to buy lots of wool to make this it would cost over £20 to make easily but I am really pleased with it and I would love to make a different colour one soon. So what's next well that would be telling.
You will have to check back next month to find out. Take care and thanks for reading xxxx

Hello and yes the March wreath is late. Sorry. Well actually I made 3 wreaths this month. It all started with a new die from sizzix which I absolutely love. The bundle of flowers die from sizzix is a bigz die and costs about £20 . I can get 4 flowers out of it without thinking but im actually sure I could probably make a lot more but I am not an expert in flowers so that needs a little research. Now the great thing about sizzix bigz dies is they cut fabric and felt so easily but before I experimented with felt I wanted to have a go with some paper and card so I was sure I was making my flowers correct. I selected a range of greens and pinks and just basically made up lots of flowers. Then taking a paper plate I cut the middle out and hot glued a small piece a lace to allow me to hang the wreath to the paper plate and then stuck the flowers in place. I did find a few gaps so I cut some extra leaves out to fill in the gaps. The flowers are lovely themselves but I think it's the colours that make this really lovely. Once I was confident that I could make the flowers I then made some in felt. which, in turn inspired me to make this beautiful crochet wreath. When I realised I had some wool that matched the felt flower it just seamed perfect to make a crochet wreath. I loved making this one so much I decided I would make the odd one to sell in the local craft shop I sell my hair clips. But the wreath bug struck again and before I knew it I had made another one!. I have an order for one which is nearly finished and I'm working on a slightly smaller version too.
I had planned to make an Easter themed wreath I am actually disappointed that I didn't but I may look out for some reduced craft supplies ready for next year who knows. My job has kept me really busy and I just don't have the time to craft as much as I'd like, well apart from the items I make to sale. This week my work load is looking big but I do have a few projects that I really want to try including mastering the art of getting vinyl to stay on clothes!. Take care everyone I hope you have a lovely week. Hello welcome back as I type this with frost in the garden but stunning sunshine I can't help but believe that spring is in the air and it's lovely it really is. Before I get started on some Easter crafts I thought I'd do a quick magazine review and this is Dalphne's diary. I will admit to often wondering what this magazine was about but always skipping it for something with a free gift on it. This is the second one i have purchased now. How do I describe this magazine?, well its very dreamy for the crafter who likes flowers, cake making, actually lets go as far as saying the home maker. It always features a post on other countries and is very shabby chic, with pull out recepies on pretty little cards, free stickers ( the inner child in me loves stickers), lots of craft projects some easy some a lot harder, stories or poems and a little about self help. Its actually an all rounder ideal for a dreamer and if you love Cath Kidston then you will probably like this. I did cut one of the pages out to go in a frame above the fire. Well now it is half term so the reality of me working is going to be difficult with 3 children and we have a visit to see peter rabbit planned and possibly cadburys world?!, well it is Easter. I have also been bargain hunting in the pound shop, pound land and the works for Easter Crafts. Firstly these lovely little ceramic Easter ornaments which have been lovingly painted by the youngest just £1 for all four including paint and the brush! an absolute bargain. I also decided to make some loaded envelopes. If you are not sure what loaded envelopes are they are envelopes themed and full of craft supplies. Using some 12 by 12 sheets of card and my envelope punch board i made this envelop. I have simply taken lots of craft supplies and split them into litttle clear pockets with easter themed craft supplies. I did make the bow using sizzix bow bow die but everything else has been bought. I intend on adding lots of funky foam craft easter shapes, perhaps some plain gift tags as well. I did find these cute rubbers and some washi tape and that green thing is actually a chick. Bellow is a picture of my crafty treats. I have actually made 8 loaded envelopes so splitting it all up has taken some time. I would suggest you only make one at a time. I am sure I will be making a bit more over Easter.
Have a lovely Easter everyone xxxx Hello welcome back I hope you are well and keeping warm. It is that time of the month when I need to be sharing my wreath for the month. If I am honest with you I simply feel in love with a ball of wool!, yep the greys, purple green and creams just seamed wintery. For this wreath I used a embroidery hoop well the middle of one but I made my cover much bigger to make the wreath base look bigger. I wasn't sure if it would work but it did. I couldn't find the right colour wool to match the base so i decided to make some felt flowers a little bolder than the base but i think they work. These are made using a sizzix die. I found some lovely pom pom trim in my local craft shop. Using a hot glue gun to stick everything together. Then I made a crochet bow. I really like this one. It cost about £6 to make and took about 4 hours. So are you thinking the next wreath should be an Easter themed and perhaps not a crochet one. I would like to make a wreath you could make easily and on a budget. I hope you like my wreath this month. Tare care and keep warm xxx Hello it's been such a cold week hasn't it. So it seams the perfect time to start a new blanket and this one is for me. It's a simple double crochet in a chunky knit wool or two balls of double knit. In fact so far I'm just using up some wool so I really need to buy a few more balls but I'm not sure on the colours yet!. Nothing like not having a plan. I decided to just crochet 2 lines each night at least that's the plan so I will keep you updated with that. My silhouette For some reason my 4 year old silhouette cameo is not working properly at the moment and really needs some attention. So I made myself some planner stickers on my curio. I know I've not really talked to much about the curio but it's an amazing machine but small!. However I did manage to print and cut these lovely stickers from the silhouette store. Did you know you can take a look at the silhouette store without owning a machine. It's a great way to see what can be achieved with these amazing machines. Take a look at silhouette america to find out more. My next mission is to make my own planner stickers which I have designed. As always my focus is on my business and I have been so busy. I'm about to start selling on Folksy an online shop for British makers so I have been busy making. I will leave you with some pictures of what I have been up to. Just a small amount of my makes this week.
Next week is half term and I'm closing my online platforms whilst I photograph my new makes ready for Folksy. Also next week I am planning to attend craft for crafter's show at West point Exeter. I plan to take lots of photos. Take care and thanks for reading xxxx. I have a wreath addiction. I've said it, I actually have no idea how many I have made but I don't seam to be able to stop!. So this year I have set myself a challenge and that is to make one a month. I have no rules they can be paper, felt, crochet fabric anything goes but I must make one by the end of each month. So lets take a look at some of the wreaths I have made in the past to be sure I do not end up making the same thing again. January Wreath Well It had to be crochet for the first month. I find crochet very soothing when it's cold. Keeping my hands moving is good and this was very quick to make. I have used an embroidery hoop taking the middle out so I could use it to make another wreath.
For this wreath I actually used three colours on this project but its very difficult to see the difference. I wanted the the base to be seen on this but actually it think it needed more detail or perhaps more splits in the colours, perhaps even more flowers would look better? This project was made this in probably 4 hours so its not a long project. I might keep this one in my bedroom once the next one is ready. Next month should really be a valentines wreath but id much rather make something that is more earthy tones. Thanks for reading and I hope you feel inspired to challenge yourself this year. Hello how are you? I know I have been neglecting you, I am sorry. If you know me personally you will know I have been through some major stress and the details aren't really important to you but wow have I changed over the last 12 months. What's happened is I have realised that crafting is in my blood it's what keeps me going. Life has been so stressful and I am starting to see a light at the end of a very long tunnel. My crafting is whats getting me through at the moment. In fact id say its my medicine no its my THERAPY!. Welcome back and lets get on with some crafting shull we ? I cant possibly fit what I've been up to into a detailed blog so I will blast you with some photos and let you know that my business Said Lucy is my main focus so you will see some posts of what I have been up to. But if you would like to take a peek at my shop please do so by following the link. So that is just a small example of what I have been up to. But this blogs about more than that and I know you love to see how things are made and the process involved so I am going to run through a really simple tutorial that anyone can do. Slate heart Decoration This is a super simple make.
Take a slate heart from the works from about £1.50 and a sheet of Anita's vinyl stickers £0.99. I decided to use a forever friends sheet as the words and pictures are not to small. simply stick them to you slate. If you do not like them simply peel the off and start again. Now I have written this blog I am ready to turn my house into Christmas so make sure you check back soon to see how I celebrate Christmas. Take care and thanks for reading. Today is fathers day and I am one of the luckiest people because I truly have a wonderful Dad. What makes a wonderful Dad? I think its dedication, and an ability to put your children first before your own needs. So for instance I know that no matter what time of day if I call my Dad he will be at my door as quickly as he can be (probably with his tool box in hand) if that's what I need. Being one of 5 I know my parents had to work hard to make sure all our needs were met. Despite working long hours I always knew I could have my cuddle after tea. Or on occasions when he went away with work he would come back with toys or sweets. My Dad would make sure that Christmas so much fun. Handmade streamers and blown up balloons. Yes Dad would be the one to drop the pin and then stand on it but my Christmases will always be full of wonderful memories. I still think of the endless amounts of tea and biscuits he would bring us all every morning as an alarm clock before he would set of to work. As I grew Dad would be the one to get me to interviews, he taught my brothers and sisters to drive, made sure when they each left home they had as much help as needed, the bonus of being great at DIY. One of the amazing things about Dad is how he will always look for a way to help. With both my businesses he has gone out of his way to help me and always show support. Dad is also the most amazing Grandad to all of his grand children and they adore him. I'm not sure if your as lucky as me I promise you I let my Dad know how much he is loved and I know he will be reading this so Happy Fathers Day Dad your best.
All my love from Lucy xxxx Well now I'd hoped that wood carving would be in my blood. That perhaps just like my dad and brother I'd be a natural!. No I'm not and I need so much direction. But hold on wood carving isn't easy, there so many chisel's all with different jobs I really shouldn't be so hard on myself. That being said I really want to be able to be a bit more independent in my carving. Well whilst looking at Exeter Wood Carvers web page I spotted a post on soap carving. Bellow is a link to the page. What I like about soap carving is it's not as dangerous as carving with sharp tools you simply use wooden lolly sticks. I decided to have a go at a more simple version of my hedgehog But I actually found I wanted something a little firmer so I used a small tea spoon. Unlike wood you don't have to follow the grain. Plus it smells lovely. I'm not going to do anymore to my little soap hedgehog but already its got me thinking about projects I want to do and perhaps I will need a little less guidance. What I didn't realize is that soap carving is a craft in its own right. I had no idea of the work that people can do with soap. Take a little look for yourself by googling soap carving. This is a great craft you could easily do with children. So that was a speedy quick look at soap carving and next week I finally get back to wood carving and I cant wait. I have so much more to bring you thank you so much to all of you who have been checking out my blog I was really shocked this morning to see how many views its had!. Thank you for making my day. Happy Crafting xxx It still amazes me that I made all of these crochet wreaths. Yet despite being incredibly busy with lots of unfinished crochet projects do I find myself buying another polystyrene wreath base!. Do I need another crochet wreath? Not really but i just cant help myself. Do I have an idea for this wreath? No I do not. So in times of creative block i do the only thing I can and that's head to Pinterest. If your not on Pinterest you are missing out on an amazing resource. I have been pinning like mad. This is the link for my board I made to hello inspire me. I like the idea of something completely covered in big roses but at the same time i like the look of some of the rainbow yarn I've seen in the craft shops. a little bit of paintingYou know how I find paper craft very relaxing well so is painting and I have decided to dedicate a few hours each week to painting . I have just finished this one as a type this blog so its going to need a few days for the paint to dry before it can be varnished. I have painted an mdf board in this lovely blue then added the words using Americana paints in warm white Hauser light green and yellow ochre. I added the flowers I like this one its a little rustic but that adds to the charm. Once this was had its coats of varnish it will be added to my etsy shop. This coaster is not so good but I think its late and I'm getting tired. So much has happened this week including making myself a copper bangle. I have wanted one for ages. I have etched you can do anything in to it but its a little hard to see. I have some special ink coming which I hope will make It more visable. I absolutely love copper and making this was great in fact I am hoping to start selling them in the near future.
I have order lots of supplies I am so excited but id like to have a play before I share it with you. Its all very exciting investing in my little business and investing in me. I did get asked the other day how I find the time to do so much which got me thinking about sharing with you my week of makes. So hopefully if all goes well I will share with you the highs and lows of a week of crafting. As always thanks for checking my blog. xxxx |
