Well now I'd hoped that wood carving would be in my blood. That perhaps just like my dad and brother I'd be a natural!. No I'm not and I need so much direction. But hold on wood carving isn't easy, there so many chisel's all with different jobs I really shouldn't be so hard on myself. That being said I really want to be able to be a bit more independent in my carving. Well whilst looking at Exeter Wood Carvers web page I spotted a post on soap carving. Bellow is a link to the page. What I like about soap carving is it's not as dangerous as carving with sharp tools you simply use wooden lolly sticks. I decided to have a go at a more simple version of my hedgehog But I actually found I wanted something a little firmer so I used a small tea spoon. Unlike wood you don't have to follow the grain. Plus it smells lovely. I'm not going to do anymore to my little soap hedgehog but already its got me thinking about projects I want to do and perhaps I will need a little less guidance. What I didn't realize is that soap carving is a craft in its own right. I had no idea of the work that people can do with soap. Take a little look for yourself by googling soap carving. This is a great craft you could easily do with children. So that was a speedy quick look at soap carving and next week I finally get back to wood carving and I cant wait. I have so much more to bring you thank you so much to all of you who have been checking out my blog I was really shocked this morning to see how many views its had!. Thank you for making my day. Happy Crafting xxx
